The Drive

Since the actual Pikes Peak Ocean-to-Ocean Highway exits more in history then actual pavement, this drive is more of a tribute to the historic roadway rather than attempt to follow it.  Plus, driving Italian cars on a roadway dubbed “The Appian way of America” seems very fitting.

The route we have chosen will bring us to Colorado in as little time as possible with the inclusion of some interesting stops.

The trip west will primarily be via interstate highways in order to get us to our destination reasonably fast. I80 and I90 feature predominantly.

The return trip will take more time and be more scenic as it travels the southern half of the USA via part of Historic Route 66 that becomes I40. Soon we leave the interstates behind and travel to the Northeast via the Cherohala Skyway and Blue Ridge Parkway.
